Romanian forest landscape with morning light

About Paroleenmimer

Pioneering a sustainable future for Romania's natural heritage through innovation, community engagement, and ecological restoration.

Our Story

Paroleenmimer was born in 2021 from a critical moment of realization. During a trek through the Carpathian Mountains, our founders Elena Popescu and Mihai Dragomir witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of deforestation and climate change on Romania's ancient forests.

What began as a small volunteer initiative to reforest damaged areas quickly evolved into something much larger. Within months, their weekend planting sessions attracted dozens, then hundreds of passionate citizens concerned about Romania's environmental future. Local communities, initially skeptical, soon became our strongest allies.

By 2023, we had established partnerships with academic institutions, secured initial funding from the European Green Initiative, and developed our first comprehensive ecological restoration programs. Today, as we approach 2026, Paroleenmimer has grown into a leading organization with projects spanning biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy implementation, and environmental education throughout Romania.

Our journey is just beginning. With Romania's rich natural heritage at stake and climate challenges intensifying, our work represents not just environmental conservation but a reimagining of how humans can live in harmony with nature for generations to come.

Our Achievements

In just five years, our initiatives have created measurable impact across Romania's ecosystems and communities.

  • 500,000+ Trees Planted

Our reforestation initiatives have restored over 2,000 hectares of degraded land across the Carpathian region, creating wildlife corridors and improving watershed health.

  • 25 Community Partnerships

We've established formal partnerships with rural communities, creating sustainable livelihoods through ecological tourism, artisanal products, and ecosystem services.

  • 5 Renewable Energy Microgrids

Our community-owned renewable energy initiatives have brought clean electricity to remote villages while creating local jobs and reducing carbon emissions.

  • 15,000+ Volunteers Engaged

Our citizen science and volunteer programs have created a network of engaged individuals contributing to conservation efforts and environmental monitoring.

  • 3 Wildlife Reintroduction Programs

We've successfully supported the recovery of key species including the European bison, Eurasian beaver, and indigenous fish populations in collaboration with wildlife authorities.

  • 50 School Programs Established

Our environmental education initiatives have reached thousands of students across Romania, fostering the next generation of environmental stewards.

European Commission Recognition

In 2024, Paroleenmimer received the prestigious European Environmental Innovation Award for our integrated approach to ecosystem restoration and community development. The judges noted our "remarkable ability to combine scientific rigor with traditional knowledge, creating solutions that are both ecologically sound and culturally appropriate."
